GD Towers and Deutsche Funkturm announce CEO transition from Bruno Jacobfeuerborn to Philipp Pohlmann

LEVERKUSEN, Germany – July 24, 2026 – GD Towers, one of Europe’s leading tower infrastructure companies, today announced a planned leadership transition designed to support the company’s continued growth and long-term strategic development. Philipp Pohlmann, currently Chief Financial Officer of GD Towers and Deutsche Funkturm, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of both companies, effective September 1, 2026. 

Philipp Pohlmann will succeed Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, who will retire from his executive roles after nearly a decade leading Deutsche Funkturm and three years as CEO of GD Towers. Bruno Jacobfeuerborn will continue to support the company as senior advisor to the GD Towers Board, providing continuity and strategic counsel as the business advances its next phase of development. 

The transition comes at a time of sustained demand for high-quality, resilient mobile infrastructure across Germany and Austria. GD Towers owns and operates more than 44,000 mobile sites, is delivering approximately 1,000 new sites annually and generates more than €1.3 billion in annual revenue. With long-term customer relationships, a substantial build-to-suit program and a scaled portfolio in two of Europe’s largest telecommunications markets, the company is positioned to continue expanding its infrastructure platform and supporting the evolving connectivity needs of mobile network operators, public-sector users, broadcasters and other customers. 

Since joining GD Towers and Deutsche Funkturm as CFO in 2023, Philipp Pohlmann has played a central role in the company’s transformation, strengthening its corporate functions, operating model and financial platform. Prior to this, he was in CFO and M&A roles at Deutsche Telekom amongst others responsible for the separation of the tower portfolios in Germany and Austria, having previously held leadership positions at Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank in Germany and the US.

Bruno Jacobfeuerborn and Philipp Pohlmann will work closely with the Board and leadership team through the transition period to ensure continuity for employees, customers and other stakeholders. Pending the appointment of a new CFO, Björn Klose, currently Head of Controlling, will lead the company’s finance organization on an interim basis. 

 

About Philipp Pohlmann 

Philipp Pohlmann has served as Chief Financial Officer of GD Towers and Deutsche Funkturm since March 2023, with responsibility for Accounting, Controlling, Data and Business Intelligence, Human Resources, Legal, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, M&A and Transformation. He began his career at Deutsche Bank and later worked in investment banking and M&A at Morgan Stanley in Frankfurt and New York. He joined Deutsche Telekom in 2014, subsequently leading its M&A department and serving as CFO in the Group Development Board department. From 2020 through 2022, he was CFO of Magenta Telekom Austria, where he led the separation of the company’s tower portfolio.

Bruno Jacobfeuerborn has served as CEO of Deutsche Funkturm since 2017 and CEO of GD Towers since its formation in 2023. Over a career of more than 35 years at Deutsche Telekom, he held a range of senior technology and operating roles, including Chief Group Technology Officer of Deutsche Telekom, Director of Technology at Telekom Deutschland, Managing Director of Technology, IT and Procurement at Polska Telefonica Cyfrowa and Managing Director of Technology, IT, Procurement and Customer Service at T-Mobile Netherlands. He also served on the Supervisory Board of T-Mobile US from 2014 to 2020.
